If an individual owns a CD or an iTune file through iTunes can they use that one song to teach students how to dance and then perform the dance?

It would be considered a public performance but it has to be less than 10% of the entire cd not the actual song. It is meringue music and can’t be found through Creative Commons.

Leigh P. - Performing the dance constitutes a public performance. It should actually be less than 10% of a song, not the entire CD.
Jean: I was informed by a KSU consultant that we CAN now use music in an educational setting, including stuff we download onto school iPods. The presumption that songs loaded are for personal use no longer applies. We can play the whole song, as long as we are not making any money on the broadcast. However, using the material after regular school hours is prohibited.
